AMHERSTBURG — The second annual Community Information Fair held by Amherstburg Community Services looks to have been successful.

The fair was held last Wednesday afternoon at the Knights of Columbus Hall and featured 23 agencies, organizations and businesses. Amherstburg Community Services (ACS) executive director Kathy DiBartolomeo was satisfied with how this year's event played out and noted that attendance surpassed that of 2008.

DiBartolomeo pointed out that last year's fair was geared more towards seniors with the effort this year being to include more of the community as a whole.

"We've had a good variety of vendors which appeals to all age groups," said DiBartolomeo.

The fair allowed people to meet with the various vendors and talk about what services they offer. If people need to re-connect with some of the vendors, they can do so through ACS, DiBartolomeo noted.

The vendors were generally pleased with how this year's fair turned out.

"It's a great opportunity to be in the community, to let people know what we're all about and what we offer," said Seasons Amherstburg office/marketing manager Jacquie Gibb.

Gibb said a lot of seniors passed through the fair and it allowed Seniors Amherstburg to promote themselves. She said they are interested in returning next year.

"It's good for us," said Gibb. "Overall, it's not a bad turnout. It's only going to get better."

The Canadian Diabetes Association returned for the second straight year and their representatives believe this year's fair was better organized and allowed people to "flow" better. Registered nurse Sandi Dennison said people can have a better view of what is being displayed by the various organizations. She also said they hope to return next year.

"If you invite us, we will come," added Dennison. "It's a worthwhile outreach."
