Two Amherstburg men charged after U.S. drug bust

SANDUSKY, MI -- A 32-year-old Amherstburg man and a 20-year-old Amherstburg man both face charges in the United States after an drug-related arrest.
According to news reports which quote the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, both accused allegedly met the pilot of what is being termed a "suspicious aircraft" on the runway of the Sandusky airport last Friday night and loaded the drugs into a Toyota SUV.
The small plane had landed in Michigan after crossing the U.S.-Canadian border.
The pair waived a detention hearing Monday and agreed to remain in custody while their case moves through federal court in Detroit, news reports state. The reports added that they are being held without bond until their Nov. 18 preliminary examination.
Authorities said they were captured with help from a border agent, who spotted the suspicious aircraft while flying a Black Hawk helicopter.
The bust was made after a customs and border patrol agent flying a Blackhawk helicopter followed the aircraft.
Value of the drugs allegedly involved could exceed $1 million, based on some news reports .
